The Squeeze

A race across a board that slowly turns into a maze. Everyone starts on their own side and must reach the far one. On your turn, one choice: move one cell, or place a block on someone else's path. Blocks are unlimited and stay until the end, but walling anyone in is forbidden: there must always be a way through. And a player who places a block does not move. The board changes with the table: a square for two or four, a triangle for three, a pentagon for five, a hexagon for six.

How to play

  1. Everyone gets a pawn on their side of the board and a finish line across.
  2. On your turn, move one cell, or jump over a pawn right in front of you, sideways if a block is in the way.
  3. Or place a block on a cell to make someone's path longer. Never to wall them in.
  4. Ten seconds per move: at the gong, your pawn moves on its own. First one across wins.
